yawn. the launch of the app store better be exciting, cause this wasn’t. (3G and GPS aren’t terribly exciting, but what they enable is pretty awe-inducing. Loopt and TypePad case in point…)

Location-aware applications should still work on the first generation iPhone with the cell tower and WiFi positioning capabilities. Of course it won’t be as accurate as the GPS system, but it is what it is. Having an iPhone right now, I don’t see the need, personally, to upgrade to the new iPhone.
